Abstract: This document is intended to describe how to identify the root cause of performance issues associated with GRS. First, this paper explores the common set of reasons for increases in GRS CPU consumption. Next, the paper examines reasons jobs are "hung" waiting to be granted access to a resource. The paper will also investigate the potential impacts due to delays accessing the ISGLOCK structure or an undersized structure. Information is included on performance impacts to GRS when there are XCF signaling delays in an environment. Finally, this paper contains suggestions for how to resolve some of the typical performance issues associated with GRS via Case Studies.
