Abstract: IBM Common Data Provider for z Systems provides a streamlined method for gathering z/OS operational data (SMF, SYSLOG, JOBLOGs, etc.) for forwarding to other products, particularly log analysis/analytics products. This paper walks through a use case of integrating IBM Common Data Provider for z Systems with Splunk, a popular product for searching and analyzing this type of data to provide operational intelligence. The paper uses an example of sending z/OS SYSLOG data to Splunk to walk through the required customization actions to enable the integration.
