Abstract: In December of 2007 IBM released function for WebSphere Application Server for z/OS that implemented the core specifications of the new EJB 3.0. Just like the web services function that was released back in July of 2007, this new EJB 3.0 functionality was released in the form of a "Feature Pack." Those are optional updates you may choose to implement or not implement, based on your needs.

This white paper documents what the new Feature Pack for EJB 3.0 provides, and how to install and configure it. It involves updating a configuration so it can link to and make use of this new functionality. The process is not difficult, but it may be unfamiliar territory for those who have not done this before. So this paper provides a step-by-step guide to installing, configuring and validating the new Feature Pack for EJB 3.0. The instructions also provide guidance on updating the level of the AST to the proper level to support FPEJB3.
