Abstract: Applications like data bases, backup server, e-mail server, video streaming ... need a high IO performance. In addition every application has their own IO characteristics: Small block size or large; random IO, sequential, or a mix of it; mostly read, or mostly write – LINUX® provides several parameters effecting IO performance significantly.
This paper provides guidelines and recommendation how to set these parameter for IBM® storage systems, within a SAN environment, by using LINUX LVM2.
