Abstract: The WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile is a light-weight, composable application server model. It first became available with WAS 8.5, and has been enhanced with additional functionality in V8.5.5, including JMS and MDB support, which is the subject of this white paper.

With JMS and MDB support, it is now possible to use Liberty Profile to host an MDB application that listens on an MQ queue for the arrival of a message. The connection to MQ may be either CLIENT or BINDINGS mode. This paper illustrates how to configure Liberty Profile for MDB support, and provides sample applications to use to validate the operation of MDB with MQ in a Liberty Profile 8.5.5 server.
