Abstract: This white paper explores how you can reserve a range of TCP ports so only a given WebSphere cell can use them. It involves coding a PORTRANGE statement in the TCP PROFILE member as well as a RACF SERVAUTH class profile. In this document you receive an overview of how the PORTRANGE and SERVAUTH work together to protect the port from undesired access, as well as an example of how the ports for the WPCELL (from white paper WP100653) were protected.
This paper is only 16 pages long, with ample illustrations and examples. The information contained in this paper is also contained in the much longer WP100653 document.
