Abstract: The WebSphere Application Server for z/OS Version 6 Deployment Manager server is designed to be started on other MVS images within the Sysplex. And with proper planning and configuration it can be just that easy -- simply start on another MVS image. But there are some things about the Version 6 design that you need to keep in mind, particularly as they relate to the new "High Availability Manager" function.

This white paper is divided into two sections: the first concerns itself with planning a new Deployment Manager; the second concerns itself with modifying an existing Deployment Manager. Both show how to make sure the DMGR's configuration is coded to be "mobile" -- that is, able to be started on another MVS image.
