Abstract: The attached documents are intended to assist in planning and deploying SAP HANA on Power Servers. IBM provides this documentation set as supplemental documentation. They do not replace any SAP documentation.
Configuring your Network for SAP HANA (Ethernet connectivity):
This document describes two things:
1) The prerequisites given by SAP for HANA System Replication and HANA Internode Networks (scale-out) requiring Jumbo Frames to fulfill the HWCCT KPIs (the usage of HWCCT today is optional and not mandatory anymore).
It is optional to use the settings also for application server networks. The throughput optimization tunables have no negative impact to the application server performance but require a network infrastructure capable to operate with jumboframes. Jumboframes will typically not give value to the Application Server to DB Server communication as the package size is to small.
2) Monitor the Application Server Network for latency deficits and addressing these by using different Ethernet virtualization and sharing technologies if required. Network_Configuration_for_HANA_Workloads_on_IBM_Power_Servers_V6.pdf
