SystemPac If you plan to replace your environment then SystemPac is the ideal vehicle to do so. SystemPac is available in DUMP BY DATASET and FULL VOLUME DUMP format. SystemPac contains the already proofed dynamic PTF level which is based on the following logic:
The usual maintenance level RSU and PUT-1 contains all installable PTFs plus all PE correction and HIPER PTFs. The SystemPac is free from all known errors on the day where these PTFs are selected. In advance you can also choose for another maintenance level like both RSU and PUT at the current level instead of PUT-1. Every maintenance level combination is possible. It is also possible to make special PTF requests e.g. PTFs needed for new hard- and software.
After delivery of your SystemPac you get by default 2 extra deliveries with all new HIPER and PE-correction PTFs (Selective Follow on Service or SFS). The default interval between these SFS's are 28 days. These SFS's will make your new system as error free as possible. If you have the right contracts like e.g. Comfort line then it is possible to order more then 2 SFS's and also the interval is variable, it is also possible to order a SFS on demand by telephone or e-mail.
The systemPac is delivered on tape media.
The SFS's are delivered on tape or by Internet-FTP.
The SystemPac profile is stored in OMIS (Online Maintenance Information System). This give you the opportunity to order AHA or PE/HIPER check for your system, this can be done with IBM-link, Internet or by telephone.
Of course eventually needed PTFs can also be ordered through OMIS.
If you order a SystemPac you can also order toleration PTFs. Toleration PTFs are needed for your old environment to be able to acces your data, changed by your new system, with your previous environment. If you have already a profile for this environment then you can use this profile as base for the toleration selection if not then you have to do an OMIS-load to store your CSI image from the driving environment.

As customer it saves a lot of time and it is not neccesary to get familiar with the Installation dialogs.
The FVD SystemPac is installed with DFDSS or FDR and is exactly the layout of the DASD during production and as requested by the customer. Most post installation jobs already done during production which makes it possible to have an IPLed system within a day.
Also a lot of functions from z/OS are already activated like e.g. the UNIX platform, e-business (own homepage). Subsystems CICS, IMS, DB2 are instandly supported with all there basic functions working.
A RefreshPac is used to bring your environment at a current maintenance level. The CSI the customer has sent is used as base for the PTF selection. During production a test environment is created to test the SMP/E installation (apply/acceptcheck) to be sure that the installation at customer site will not have any install problems. Reports of these tests are also included in the package shipment. With a RefreshPac it is possible to update multiple zones (8) but only within the same SREL. With an interval of 28 days an SFS will be sent to update the original shipment. An image of this RefreshtPac will be stored in the OMIS database as an OMIS profile. This profile can be used for several services like AHA, PE/HIPER and OMIS. The RefreshPac will be shipped on tape.
The SFS's can be shipped on tape or sent with Internet-FTP.
The CSI, which is the base for the RefreshPac, can be sent on tape or FTP (Using CustomPac Online tools).
With a ProductPac you can order several products and your CSI as base for selection. FMIDs and all neccesary PTFs are selected.
Because the selection is based on the customer CSI your CSI must be sent to the production centre. On selection it is also possible to order a full system upgrade. In fact, then it contains 2 packages a ProductPac and a RefreshPac. Sometimes when there are no product dependencies then it is possible to order a ProductPac on an empty CSI what means you do not have to sent your CSI. During production a test environment is created to test the SMP/E installation (apply/accept) to be sure that the installation at customer site will not have any install problems. Reports of these tests are also included in the package shipment. With an interval of 28 days an SFS will be sent to update the original shipment. The FunctionPac can contain specific programm products (products who are part of the z/OS base can not be ordered). The ordered programms are already installed in a SMP/E environment and are only to be merged with your own environment.
The PTF selection is based on the same logic as used in for SystemPacs. Also you can call the hotline for installation support. The ideal situation is to use SystemPac for ordering your base z/OS products and whenever you need other functions you can use FunctionPac to order these.
FunctionPac is delivered on tape.
The follow on services (SFS) can be shipped on tape or sent with Internet- FTP.
An image of the FunctionPac will be stored as a profile in the CustomPac database.
OMIS is an application to order corrective maintenance. The selection is done on the OMIS customer profile which is stored at the CustomPac production centre. A profile is stored during CustomPac production. If the customer profile does not exist at the production centre (i.e. he has not built his system using CustomPac products) or the profile has become out of sync for some reason, then it is possible to load this profile with an "OMIS profile load" order. The customer profile is an image of the customer zones. This implies that the ordered PTFs are shipped with all necessary pre- and co-required PTFs and the customer gets exactly what he needs to install the ordered PTFs.
In OMIS there are several functions available to maintain your system.
1. Order PTFs including all pre- and co- requirements. This can be done by calling your PSR, software service or Custompac Focal Point. Through DIALIBM or Internet.
2. PE and HIPER check
3. Select toleration PTFs with a predefined toleration or hardware list. This can be done by calling your PSR, software service or Custompac Focal Point.
4. Automated PE and HIPER check (AHA).
5. Selection on FMID base to select all not installed PTFs for a specific FMID. This can be done by calling your PSR, software service or Custompac Focal Point.
With OMIS Load a profile is created in the OMIS profile database. With this profile the customer can use all OMIS functions. If you order an OMIS Load you can also order a SFS.
The SFS can be shipped on tape media or sent with Internet-FTP.
The CSI, which is the base for the profile, can be sent on tape or FTP (Using CustomPac Online tools).
Selective Follow On Services (SFS)
SFS is an follow on service for SystemPac, ProductPac and RefreshPac. The default for these Pacs are 2 SFS's with an interval of 28 days after the base pac is shipped. The SFS contains all new HIPER. PE resolving and holddata after you original pac was shipped. This ensures the highest maintenance level for your system. The selection is always based on your profile which was stored during production of your original pac including OMIS updates and also the SFS stored in this profile. This ensures that the profile is always in sync with your CSI.
It is also possible to order a SFS with an OMIS load or a SFS on Demand. A SFS can be shipped on tape or sent with Internet-FTP.
Automatic HIPER Alert is a function to create automatically PE and HIPER checks. The check will search for PTFs which are flagged as HIPER, PE resolving or errorholds with the specified profile as base.
The AHA-check can run immediatly as a 1 time check but can also be used as a regular automativly running check with an interval from 1-60 days.
In both cases you get a current report applying your system with coverletters from all relevant PTFs been flagged as HIPER, PE-resolving and PE based on your CSI. The report is sent to your specified e-mail address.

The reports are ment to be a decision help for your PE and HIPER maintenance management. If you think you need all the listed PTFs then you can order a SFS but you can also order specific PTFs. The ordering can be done online or with an e-mail.
The REXX exec is to make it easier for you to check all the PTFs. Because it is only a report the profile is not updated therefore in a new list, also the already reported PTFs are listed. With the REXX exec you are able to compare the previous with the current report and you only have to check the new listed PTFs.

IBM service Customized Proactive Maintenance for IBM System z (CPMz) identifies and provides all necessary PTFs, in order to enable high availability in z/OS environment, based on criteria defined by the client.
IBM CPMz helps to install as little PTFs as possible, but on the other hand all PTFs, which are necessary for high availability of z/OS.
Customized Delivery and Recommendation of PTFs
The specific customer environment and customer applications are base for the selection of PTFs. Detailed requirements from the client lead to customer specific selection and delivery of PTFs. Requirements from client site define special filters to enable the CPMz process.
Mode of Operation:
Each z/OS system is implemented based on different customer requirements. For this reason maintenance should also be based on customer requirements. For example this could be basic components of z/OS and also products which play a significant role in the customer environment in dependance of the applications which are active.
PTFs are not only selected based on individual customer requirements, but also based on products and components installed in the system.
IBM CPMz provides the flexibility to define various individual criteria.
All available PTFs are checked by IBM software specialists in regard to their relevance. A three level technique of filters which has been developed for CPMz service selects the PTFs for installation.
The CSI of the customer z/OS system or subsystem is base for the analysis. All installable PTFs are determined based on this CSI.
All closed APARs are identified in RETAIN system which can be rated by a problem management record (PMR). A rating level for each closed APAR provides the information how important the corresponding PTF is in respect to high availability of the system, the product or the component. The second filter assigns the rating to the PTFs selected in the first filter. This reduces the amount of PTFs by those which do not have to be installed for reason of high availability.
The third filter increases the number of PTFs which have to by installed. PTFs are added which match the environment and the criteria provided by the customer. Thus the resulting delivery of PTFs is adjusted to the requirements and critical applications of the computer center. This adjustment may lead to different PTF deliveries for identical CSIs
Documentation and Material for Installation
The following files are provided for the client:
- INSTLIB (z/OS PO file) containing all information necessary for installation of the PTFs,
- PTF file with all available and installable PTFs,
- HTML file with formatted information about service level of the products based on the analysis of the CSI provided by the customer and about the content of the CPMz delivery and
- Text file with information necessary for automated download of the documents provided.
A sample delivery based on a customer CSI can be arranged.

PE/HIPER Check A PE and HIPER check gives you information about all not installed HIPER and also all PE resolving PTFs for already installed PTFs which are flagged PE after they where installed. You can find here an example of the report in "PE/HIPER Check report" section.

Through Servicelink / SRD function with the DIAL IBM application.
Through Internet in the OMIS ordering application.
By calling your PSR or CustomPac focal point.
The following describes the different ways how to do it:

The OMIS profile is the profile for which you want the check.
OMIS level must be set to HIPER this will force the PE/HIPER check.
The customer number in the profile must be the same as in your request otherwise the request will be rejected. The report dataset will be sent to your DIALIBM userid.
Fill in the Internet Form and submit your request.
The report will be send to your e-mail address.

Refresh On Profile (ROP)
Refresh on profile is a service where you can order a refresh service on an existing profile. The ROP is based on the logic of a SFS where the selection input is the same as a RefreshPac. This means that the output has the layout the same as a SFS and no SMPE jobs did run during production. This implies also that no SMPE reports are available. Of course the selected PTFs are the same as a standard RefreshPac.
The advantage of an ROP is that no CSI is required, the order can be sent electronically (Internet-FTP) which results in a fast turnaround time. If the amount of data exceeds 1 GB then automatically an electronic shipment will be send on Tape. Sending ROP directly on physical media is also possible.
Disadvantages from ROP are: No SMPE runs and no automated SFS shipments. Of course it is always possible to order a SFS with the "SFS on Demand" order entry.
ROP can be ordered the same as "SFS on Demand" but then with the ROP selection flag set to YES.
ROP can only ordered after all SFS's from the original order are delivered.
