IBM eServer Helps H.O. Systems Speed Billing Cycle for Telcos

SAVANNAH, G - 21 Nov 2001: H.O. Systems, an application service provider (ASP) for mid-market wireless telco companies, has selected IBM eServer p680 systems to run billing applications for its customers, resulting in as much as a 340 percent performance gain, the company announced today. This massive increase in processing power will enable H.O. Systems to better serve the lucrative large-scale telco market.

H.O. Systems provides billing, customer care and provisioning services to wireless telco companies. Each H.O. Systems customer has a dedicated server for monthly billing statements.

"H.O. Systems is a motivated, growing business partner in the telco industry, said Tim Dougherty, director of IBM e-business strategy. "The IBM eServer p680 systems will add the speed and reliability H.O. Systems can count on as they continue to grow."

Customers at H.O. Systems have already seen performance increases with the new servers. The monthly customer billing systems for two H.O. Systems' clients --Price Communications Wireless and Leap Wireless International (Cricket) -- were ported from Compaq servers to the IBM p680s, improving speed by 340 percent for Price Communications and an average of 159 percent for Leap.

"The increased speed and ease of use of H.O. Systems' applications allow for more effective customer service," said Mike Bruno, executive vice president, Price Communications Wireless. Price has 550,000 subscribers that are billed monthly through H.O. Systems.

H.O. Systems, recently selected by IBM as a Premier Business Partner, will participate in the IBM xSP Prime program, which will provide technical expertise to help the company increase the scalability and availability of its applications.
