400 ISVs Join IBM's PartnerWorld Industry Networks in First Three Months

New Benefits Unveiled to Help Application Providers Accelerate Business Industry-by-Industry

SOMERS, NY - 27 May 2004: IBM today announced that 400 independent software vendors (ISVs) worldwide have joined PartnerWorld Industry Networks for ISVs, an offering launched in March to help ISVs develop open solutions and go to market with IBM, industry by industry. IBM also unveiled new benefits that enable PartnerWorld Industry Networks participants to more efficiently deliver solutions into their target vertical industries to meet customer needs.

As part of IBM's $1 billion investment in ISV programs during 2004, PartnerWorld Industry Networks are Web-based communities that integrate and organize the PartnerWorld experience for ISVs by industry. This ensures that ISVs are more effectively aligned with IBM marketing and sales organizations to deliver solutions that meet the business transformation requirements of customers in each industry. Initially covering the banking, financial markets, healthcare, life sciences, retail and telecommunications industries, PartnerWorld Industry Networks will expand to support additional verticals, with prioritization based on ISV input.

The 400 ISVs include more than 200 in North America, more than 100 in EMEA and the remainder in AP.

Each Industry Network serves as a single source of focused business insight, networking and collaboration, enablement blueprints and technical resource, and sales and marketing support benefits. IBM has introduced new enablement and marketing/sales benefits for PartnerWorld Industry Networks participants, arming ISVs with a wide range of resources that can help them gain new customers and increase profitability quickly and efficiently. The exact offerings vary by industry, based on what marketing tactics are most effective in each one. In addition, ISVs can earn access to an increasing number of benefits based on their level of integration with IBM's industry on demand solutions.

IBM also launched its 'Partnership With Business Application ISVs', a charter that reinforces IBM's dedication to collaborating with the ISV community to jointly address the market demand for vertical solutions. The charter defines the critical role ISVs play in IBM's on demand strategy, providing the applications that can be integrated with IBM's open middleware foundation. It also outlines how IBM will continue to invest in the success of its ISV relationships across all vertical industries and ensure that customers are presented with open solutions that won't lock them into proprietary operating environments.
