IBM and GE Interlogix Agree to Team on Security Solution

Combined Security Software Platform Helps Customers in Their Effort to Protect Employees, Property and Digital Assets

ARMONK, NY & AUSTIN, TX - 19 Sep 2003: IBM and GE Interlogix today announced a teaming relationship to provide large enterprises with comprehensive security services and tools to help customers in their effort to protect computer systems, buildings and employees.

As part of the relationship, GE Interlogix will integrate its security software with IBM's enterprise management and application server software, creating a powerful solution platform for addressing physical and IT security needs. IBM and GE Interlogix will collaborate in marketing the combined software platform.

Capitalizing on IBM's leadership in security services and software and GE Interlogix' advanced technology for physical security, the relationship will help the companies meet the emerging needs of large enterprise customers. IBM will provide IT security services, application integration and solution deployment, and will work with an existing network of IBM and GE Interlogix partners to help customers integrate their IT infrastructure and back-office systems. If requested by a customer, IBM will provide overall project management.

Complete solutions will combine human resource network systems and facilities management applications, with physical security assets (such as badge readers, intrusion and surveillance systems) and logical security capabilities (such as intrusion detection systems).

GE Interlogix will integrate Facility Commander, its security system integration software, with IBM's Tivoli enterprise management software, including Tivoli Risk Manager and Tivoli Enterprise Console, and WebSphere server software. GE Interlogix will also support IBM Directory Integrator and IBM DB2 database.

IBM also plans to integrate IBM Tivoli Access Manager and IBM Tivoli Identity Manager with GE Interlogix solutions to integrate and automate core identity management businesses processes with physical security practices.

This integration will enable the two companies to help deliver high-quality physical and IT security, while helping to reduce administration overhead for security staff.

GE Interlogix' Facility Commander product provides a comprehensive alarm management system with graphical maps and video clips and a high-level command and control interface to digital video recorders. For access control, Facility Commander interfaces with GE Interlogix Picture Perfect, which performs all physical access control, alarming and reporting tasks.

The system will interact with IBM Tivoli Risk Manager, which correlates IT security and network events from security software products such as firewall intrusion detection systems and other technologies across the network that affect security. If an alert is triggered by GE Interlogix' Facility Commander, Tivoli Risk Manager can automatically alert a facilities coordinator or security personnel by pager, cell phone or email.
