Foreign Minister to Witness How New IoT, Artificial Intelligence and Industry 4.0 Innovations Are Transforming Industries

MUNICH - 25 Apr 2017: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen is visiting its global Watson Internet of Things (IoT) headquarters in Munich. During his visit, Foreign Minister Samuelsen will get an in-depth look at the work IBM is doing around Industry 4.0, IoT and artificial intelligence (AI) as well as a tour the industry’s first ever cognitive collaboratories.

 In February of this year, IBM announced that official opening its global Watson IoT headquarters. The center, part of a $200M investment made by the company, is the largest allocation made in Europe over the last 20 years and today is allowing IBM to transform customer operations through a combination of IoT and AI. New innovations coming out of the facility include cognitive manufacturing capabilities designed to help businesses enter the Industry 4.0 era. The latest example of this is the IBM Cognitive Visual Inspection, which was announced today at Hannover Messe 2017.

“We are honored to have Danish Foreign Minister Samuelsen visiting our Watson IoT Munich headquarters, which is not only the most advance center of its kind but the launching pad for the industry’s most innovative cognitive cloud, IoT and AI offerings,” said Harriet Green, General Manager, IBM Watson IoT, Cognitive Engagement and Education. “As part of his visit of the Watson IoT center, he will get to see the impactful role played by our industry first cognitive collaboratories, where clients are working side-by-side right now to develop innovations that are driving outcomes for clients today.”

As part of his tour of the Munich IoT headquarters, Samuelsen will also visit the center’s cognitive collaboratories which bring clients and partners together with IBM’s 1,000 Munich-based IoT experts. Working hand-in-hand, these teams are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in areas such Industry 4.0, automotive, banking, smart buildings and transportation.
