Armonk, New York & Austin, Texas</span></strong><strong><span> - 07 Nov 2002: IBM and Wincor Nixdorf, a leading provider of automated cash solutions for banking, announced today that they will team to bring leading-edge technology, open standards and advanced functionality to self-service ATMs. As part of this relationship, IBM Global Services will sell, install, integrate and maintain Wincor Nixdorf's ProCash product line, which includes self-service banking systems, multi-function ATMs, retail cash dispensers, and teller assist units.

As part of a customer offering called the IBM Branch Transformation initiative, the ATM channel is increasingly being recognized as a core access point that plays a major role in the multi-channel banking network. IBM and Wincor Nixdorf will continue to invest in self service by integrating open ATM middleware, voice guided solutions, commercial/retail banking kiosks, check imaging, WebSphere Internet infrastructure software, Tivoli system management and security software, and other enterprise solutions, thus providing a comprehensive solution. The goal is to take the self-service channel beyond traditional ATM functionality to optimize the enterprise and individual channel investment

"The inclusion of the Wincor Nixdorf product line greatly enhances IBM's multi-channel enterprise strategy. IBM can now offer our banking customers a complete set of hardware, software, and middleware components, resulting in a truly integrated solution" said Jeff Powers, Financial Services Sector Executive, IBM Global Services. "Banks can now provide their customers greatly improved service by delivering consistent information and services across all delivery points. This enables them to provide personalized service which can increase their sales and profits."

By utilizing standard components across the product line, off-the-shelf PCs running Windows NT, and energy saving LCD displays, IBM and Wincor Nixdorf offer a lower total cost of ownership across the entire ATM network. All Wincor Nixdorf ATMs and dispensers meet Triple DES security regulations, and are compliant with North America disability accessibility standards. Additionally, financing is available to qualified customers through IBM Global Financing.

"Combining the superior Wincor Nixdorf ATM product line with the sales, services, integration and consulting leadership of IBM, financial services and retail businesses are now able to benefit from a new, innovative way to service their customers," said Javier Lopez-Bartolome, Senior Vice President at Wincor Nixdorf. IBM and Wincor Nixdorf are jointly designing, developing and deploying ATM solutions for customers in more than 35 countries, including the United States, Latin America and Canada.

TD Bank Financial Group (TD) with over 1,300 Branches and 2,700 ATMs in Canada, is one of the top Canadian banks and a growing international force with its subsidiary TD Waterhouse. TD and IBM have a long history of partnership in self-service solutions going back to the 1970s. TD Canada Trust is the retail banking arm of TD Bank Financial Group and was first introduced to the Wincor Nixdorf solutions through the ProCash Teller Assist Unit, which has been rolled out across the majority of branches. Earlier this year, TD Canada Trust rolled out 130 Full Function ProCash 2100 ATMs in many high profile retail locations.

Tyndall Federal Credit Union recently installed a joint solution from IBM and Wincor Nixdorf, offering its members the ability to do most of the functions that have historically needed to be done in a branch. Tyndall selected the self-service compactBANK to provide its members with branch services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Tyndall's ultimate goal is to off-load teller workload, expand its presence without having to build new branches, and offer its members new functionality. In addition to traditional ATM transactions, Tyndall Federal Credit Union now offers its customers members coin and cash deposit for immediate credit, and check scanning.

Image printing, loan application and approval notification, corporate cashiers checks and check reorder, printing statements and dispensing temporary ATM cards are some of the possible services that are expected to be implemented over the next few months "Increased competition in the marketplace meant that we had to differentiate ourselves from other financial institutions, said Janet Turner, Vice President of Interactive Technologies services at Tyndall Federal Credit Union. "By working with IBM and Wincor Nixdorf, we are able to offer our members additional functions which will set us apart in member convenience and satisfaction."
