ARMONK, N.Y. - 18 Sep 2009: IBM (NYSE: IBM), in collaboration with Nokia Siemens Networks, has delivered a service delivery platform that will make it easier and faster for Globe Telecom, a leading telecommunications company in the Philippines, to streamline its business operations, generate new revenue and reduce the time it takes to bring new services to market.

This Service Delivery Platform, delivered by IBM and Nokia Siemens Networks, is helping Globe to reduce its time to market for new services by more than 80 percent, allowing Globe to create and deliver services and campaigns for its customers faster than ever before. For example, Globe was able to get their first application up and running in two and half weeks instead of the usual six months. As a result, Globe is now able to offer their customers many more services and options, as well as deliver a superior overall customer experience.

With more than 26 million existing mobile subscribers, Globe has embarked on an initiative that will reduce time-to-market for the development, collaboration and launch of innovative new communications and Web services. The solution removes many of the traditional cost and complexity inhibitors by providing a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) platform that incorporates open IT and Telecom industry standards, including Next Generation Operational Support Systems (NGOSS) to integrate its existing systems.

"We are very excited to be working with IBM on this strategic project and have already seen tremendous improvements just by obtaining flexibility in terms of our service creation," said Mario Domingo, head of product design and creation for Globe Telecom. "IBM has become a key technology partner for software and hardware in helping us provide the services our customers want and deserve."

As part of the contract IBM is delivering WebSphere, Rational and Tivoli software using SOA aligned with NGOSS standards. Globe will also utilize IBM's Telecom Operations Content Pack as the key accelerator to streamline the integration and automation of key processes, while providing significant reuse and lower total cost of ownership associated with the launch and delivery of new services.

"Globe is a great example of a company delivering significant innovation and time to market improvements by taking advantage of industry standards, with an industry framework and unique set of accelerators that IBM has developed for service providers," said Scott Stainken, general manager for IBM's Telecommunications Industry. "The service delivery platform will not only make service creation and deployment more rapid and efficient, but can also help simplify management of Globe's service portfolio."

Fulfillment of software and hardware solutions was implemented by IBM's 2009 Beacon Award Winner, Fritz and Macziol. As a recognized business partner of IBM, Fritz and Macziol has become instrumental in ensuring the timely delivery of the solution to help achieve Globe's business objectives.
