Somers, N.Y - 13 Jan 1998: -- Building on IBM's extensive solutions portfolio in the manufacturing industry, IBM Global Services and SC Johnson Wax announced today that they have established a comprehensive global information technology (IT) alliance.

The global agreement will be implemented through regional IT services contracts, the first of which is a 10-year, multi-million dollar outsourcing contract for IBM Global Services to manage SC Johnson Wax's data center operations across Europe and to support manufacturing sites in the UK and Holland. The scope of the European contract covers application development and maintenance, as well as management of enterprise servers, network services, desktop systems, and a multi-lingual help desk based in Manchester to support users across Europe. Further analysis is underway to determine if SC Johnson Wax might leverage IBM's extensive solutions portfolios in other regions such as Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and North America.
