IBM Netfinity Enters PC Week's Winner's Circle at PC Expo

New IBM Netfinity 8500R Server Judged Best in its Category

NEW YORK CITY - 23 Jun 1999: -- In a ceremony at PC Expo, PC Week editors awarded IBM Netfinity(R) servers their fourth PC Week Winner's Circle award. The Netfinity 8500R was judged the best in its category -- infrastructure hardware and software -- over competitors including the Compaq AlphaServer.

Netfinity 8500R: Best Infrastructure Hardware and Software
Announced today, the SAN-optimized Netfinity 8500R server incorporates smart management and availability features such as IBM's exclusive Light-Path diagnostics. The server borrows key attributes from its big iron heritage to deliver superior manageability, reliability, and availability features for Intel(R) microprocessor- and Microsoft software-based applications. One year ago, PC Week editors awarded the IBM Netfinity 5500 and the Netfinity-based IBM Small Business Telephony Solution with three PC Week Winner's Circle awards. The Netfinity 5500 was judged the overall best of show, winning PC Week's Expo Excellence Award, and won in its category, enterprise computing. The IBM Small Business Telephony Solution also joined PC Week's Winner's Circle, winning in the networking category.
