North Castle, New York - 31 Aug 1999: . . . IBM today announced an innovative new concept to help companies simplify their total PC computing costs and reduce related administration and PC management. This comprehensive financing package was designed in part for customers using IBM Global Services network management products in North America. Introduced by IBM Global Financing, the new "price per seat" offering provides financing for both personal computing hardware and services, and is conveniently billed as a single periodic cost, identified by individual asset. This enhancement will enable customers to more easily distinguish and allocate both visible and hidden PC costs, and better address their total cost of ownership(TCO).*

IBM Global Services network management products are customizable services designed to help organizations integrate and manage multiplatform systems and networks. The combination of IBM Global Financing and IBM Global Services provides customers with a seamless IBM solution tailored to their individual needs, which responds to customers' increasing focus for additional tools to manage workstation growth.

"By consolidating total expenses associated with hardware, software and services into a single charge per user, IBM Global Financing's price per seat offering can help customers reduce administration and manage their total computing costs more efficiently," said Maryann Von Seggern, Manager of Personal Computers for IBM Global Financing. "Ultimately, our customers will be able to focus more on their critical business objectives and less on their desktop assets."

"Maintaining control over PC assets can be a complicated and time consuming task, and the industry should welcome a simplified process," said Bill McCreary, Vice President and CIO, Libby Owens Ford. "Bundling the services cost with the equipment usage into a single bill is a very effective solution for any company seeking to do a better job managing their PC assets. IBM's unique advantage of being an IT equipment manufacturer, service provider and funding source places it as a clear leader in providing an essential solution like this."
