Portl , Oregon - 14 Jan 2000: Shilo Inn, a fast-growing west-coast hotel chain, today announced it is using an IBM AS/400e business server to run its online reservation system. Just 10 months after installation, hotel occupancy has risen 20 percent and profits have increased $100,000 per month.

The Shilo reservation system offers up-to-the minute rates, room availability and instant confirmation of reservations online for any one of Shilo's 45 locations in nine western states. The easy-to-use Internet-based reservation system was installed by IBM Premier Business Partner Chouinard and Myhre Inc. of Cotati, California.

"The AS/400 is a perfect fit for running an online reservation system. The availability and reliability of the server make it ideal for a 24 by 7 environment," says Jennifer Hauge, Internet Distribution Manager for Shilo Inn. "Chouinard and Myhre's expertise with AS/400 made it a very attractive offering."

The system has given travel agents greater access to Shilo Inn's central reservation system, dramatically increasing business and the yield on each room. The Internet has also provided greater access for the general public and corporate travel planners for booking reservations at Shilo Inns.

"The site is easy, reliable, fast, secure, and accurate," says Hauge. "It is the ideal, user-friendly solution for our guests."

The Chouinard and Myhre solution allows Shilo Inn to customize the look and feel of the site so the hotel chain can better meet its objectives, which include branding and awareness, lead generation, increasing revenue, creating loyal customers and lowering reservation costs.
