SAN DIEGO - 24 Jan 2000: -- IBM and IBM Premier Business Partner Sirius Computer Solutions today announced that FundsXpress, a leading Internet Banking and financial network provider, has selected the world's most powerful server -- an IBM RS/6000 S80 -- to power its mission critical applications.

FundsXpress will use the S80 as a database and transaction server to provide secure, reliable and convenient Internet banking for customers of financial institutions across the country.

"One important advantage of an Internet banking service bureau is that it's open for business 24 hours a day, 7 days a week," said Jonathan Harber, chief technology officer, FundsXpress. "The RS/6000 S80 allows FundsXpress to provide our financial institutions with the highest level of service around the clock."

Since installing the S80, FundsXpress has doubled its customer base and expects to eventually scale to 2.5 million users. "We chose the RS/6000 S80 because it provides significantly better performance at less than half the cost, it's that simple," added Harber.

Sirius Computer Solutions, an IBM Premier Business Partner for the last seven years, initiated the relationship with FundsXpress. In addition to installing the system, Sirius provides ongoing support and technical assistance.

"We're seeing more and more companies selecting IBM servers to power their businesses," said Muditha Karunatileka, senior vice president of sales, Sirius Computer Solutions. "Increasingly, they are relying on us, and IBM servers, to keep their e-business up and running."

"Business in the Internet age is constantly evolving," said Rod Adkins, general manager, IBM RS/6000. "IBM works closely with business partners like Sirius, to enable and support e-business for leading next generation companies such as FundsXpress. Our successful relationship is just another example of how IBM can help diverse businesses complete the evolution into dynamic e-businesses."
