SANTA MONICA, CA & ARMONK, NY - 01 Mar 2000: -- A picture is worth a thousand words, so the saying goes. In the Internet age, a picture is also worth a few million hits to the Official GRAMMY Web site. On the day after the 42nd GRAMMY Awards, traffic surged on Grammy.com to record levels as fans thronged to see the winners of all 98 GRAMMY categories and the photo of presenters Jennifer Lopez and David Duchovny.

During its six days of coverage -- which began February 19 and included rehearsals, the GRAMMY telecast and the Awards recap -- the Official GRAMMY Webcast registered 119 million hits, 9.6 million page views and 2 million visits. Traffic peaked at 117,213 hits per minute on the night of the GRAMMY Awards, nearly tripling the peak moment of the 1999 Webcast.

Other highlights from the 2000 GRAMMY Webcast include:

- Over half of the site's traffic came on February 24, the day after the Awards.

- The Lopez/Duchovny photo was downloaded 642,917 times from the moment it was published through the end of the day on February 24 and was by far the most requested photo on the site. The Photo Gallery was the most visited section of the site.

- Fans launched the GRAMMY "Live Guide" 145,493 times. An IBM-custom designed application, the Live Guide linked to live audio programming including interviews with artists, "GRAMMY Cams" providing a peek at all the action around the STAPLES Center and the dynamically updated winners' list.

- Special features still available at GRAMMY.com include the first ever "GRAMMY Goods" online store; a wealth of photos, audio and video of the nominees, winners and presenters; and articles about all the action at and around the 42nd GRAMMY Awards.

IBM sponsored, designed, hosted and co-developed the Official GRAMMY Webcast with the Recording Academy.
