New York - 13 Mar 2000: -- IBM today has announced that it has teamed up with Arrakis, the Internet technology division of J.P. Morgan Advisors Inc. to launch MorganOnLine, a personalized online wealth management service for Morgan's high net worth clients. MorganOnLine is the first e-business solution to result from J.P. Morgan Advisory Services selection of IBM to help build and run its next generation technology infrastructure and business critical applications.

"Best-in-class technology and technical expertise are key if we are to reach our goal of being the online wealth management advisor of choice for the millionaire investor," said Ramon de Oliveira, Chairman of J.P. Morgan's asset management business. "That's why we've joined forces with IBM."

Arrakis has worked with IBM Global Services -- using its e-business software, services and integration skills to offer investors a holistic, secured view of all their financial assets, whether held at J.P. Morgan or elsewhere, and designed to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. IBM's performance and capacity testing of the new Internet service is also designed to provide MorganOnLine the scalability to support future business growth. MorganOnLine's next generation of software will run on the industry leading IBM WebSphere application software platform including the WebSphere application server.

"The leaders in the financial services industry are companies who are trusted partners with deep customer relationships and an intimate understanding of how their customers prefer to manage their wealth," said Jerry Cole, general manager of Global Financial Services sector, IBM. " IBM's technology, e-business and services expertise have been combined to create a highly secure, reliable, and scalable solution engineered to help J.P. Morgan take its relationship with the affluent customer to a new level."

With IBM WebSphere at the base of MorganOnLine, J.P. Morgan will be able to extend mission-critical business applications to the Web. The productivity gains of using IBM VisualAge for Java development tool for building and maintaining MorganOnLine will allow J.P. Morgan to launch MorganOnLine quicker than they would otherwise -- an important factor in a world where being fast to market means so much.
