White Plains, New York (USA) - 21 Jun 2000: -- IBM today announced an alliance for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions enabling customers to integrate key product development, product life and strategic business processes. These solutions help companies speed innovation to market using product development processes and knowledge across the value chain.

IBM, along with Dassault Systemes, i2 Technologies, and Siebel Systems, have agreed on architectures to provide companies of all sizes and industries with e-business solutions and services linking Product Lifecycle Management capabilities (PLM) to customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM), and enterprise resource planning (ERP). Integration of these processes enables companies to respond faster and more efficiently to their customers, collaborate more easily with their suppliers, and improve their business results. The news of this alliance follows today's launch of IBM's new Global Product Lifecycle Management Solutions.

The alliance builds on the existing initiatives and the extensive capabilities of each of these leading e-business providers. It will combine and accelerate delivery of complete and compatible software, consulting, and service offerings to address the entire digital extended enterprise, from customer process assessments, implementation roadmaps and process consulting, through application positioning, solution integration, implementation services and e-business infrastructure.

"To remain competitive, companies today must respond to a range of internal and external forces. Companies must compete through product innovation (PLM) in addition to operational efficiency (ERP and SCM) and customer intimacy (CRM)," said Martin Jetter Jr., general manager, Product Lifecycle Management, IBM. "This alliance brings together best-of-breed e-business solutions for businesses that are striving to innovate and gain a competitive advantage from a digital enterprise environment."
