SOMERS, N.Y. - 12 Jul 2001: IBM today announced that Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation, a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty power tools, is using IBM WebSphere® Commerce Suite to power its B2B extranet and provide its customers with up-to-the-minute inventory information.

The software will run Milwaukee's distributor extranet, enabling users to check inventory, order status and history, invoicing, and various other functions. The tool company expects to reduce order processing costs by 90 percent because the new solution allows customer queries to be answered much faster.

WebSphere Commerce Suite will also manage the product catalog on the company's public B2C Web site (, providing seamless integration with its extranet to reduce strain on the customer service call center and increase customer satisfaction.
