IBM Announces Solutions Excellence Award Winners

Annual award recognizes significant technology contributions of Business Partners

August 14, 2001, San Francisco.. - 14 Aug 2001: International software developers that have made Linux** usage faster and more secure, deployed a Java-based Web banking service system, and created an online education site for pre-school through third-grade children are among the winners of IBM's 2001 Solutions Excellence Awards.

Trustix, a Norwegian-based independent software vendor (ISV), has won in the "Hot Linux Business Solution" category, for building a graphical user interface that allows systems administrators to more easily manage their servers from Linux workstations. The solution runs on IBM's eServer zSeries* and xSeries* e-business servers.

Softgram, a Seoul, Korea-based developer, created for the Hyundai Investment Trust & Securities Co. (HITC), Ltd. a true Java***-based Web teller system, won in the "Hot Java Solution" category. The solution, running pure Java clients, provides tellers more comprehensive and tailored information on customers' banking interests, and was deployed in HITC's 102 branches, with more than 500 teller desktops throughout Korea.

The "Born on the Web" award was given to Cornerstone Systems, a southern Californiacompany which took honors for its creation of an interactive, online, educational site for students aged two to seven years of age, for ThinkBox Media. The solution runs on Linux and Windows NT operating platforms and uses IBM eServers pSeries* hardware. The ThinkBox application uses Lotus Domino* technology for security, scalability and seamless integration of a number of Web technologies.

Award winners in the other categories are:

"The Solutions Excellence Awards program is our way of highlighting the great work that developers are undertaking to improve business processes worldwide using the Internet."

The Solution Excellence Awards recognize outstanding commercial members of PartnerWorld for Developers. Each nominee must be a member of IBM's PartnerWorld for Developers to be eligible to win. Each year, IBM selects stars of technology who have developed innovative e-business solutions using IBM hardware, software, and technologies. The nominees were selected by a panel of experts composed of industry analysts and journalists. Winners receive extensive marketing assistance and technical support.
