ORLANDO, FL - 29 Aug 2001: In a vote by more than 5,000 solution providers, IBM today announced it has won several first-place awards in the 2001 VARBusiness 16th Annual Report Card (ARC) Survey, including two overall category awards for IBM eServer products and an overall category win for Tivoli's security management software.

IBM's VARBusiness 16th ARC Survey awards include:

IBM eServer iSeries garnered a first place overall win in the Midrange Servers category, as well as first place wins in the product/pricing, support and partnership sub-categories. This is the third year in a row that IBM has earned top honors in the Midrange Server category of the ARC Survey. Business Partners are IBM's channel of choice for eServer iSeries, accounting for more than ninety percent of server shipments. Because it is an integrated system, eServer iSeries allows IBM Business Partners to focus on their solutions and value-added services, rather than testing and integrating hardware and system software. eServer iSeries also incorporates ground-breaking IBM technologies, including dynamic logical partitioning, native support for Linux, remote wireless management, and high-speed adapter technology that allows customers to use a single iSeries server to manage multiple IBM eServer xSeries servers.

IBM eServer xSeries was recognized as the first-place overall winner in the Entry Level Servers category, and also finished in first place in the support and partnership sub-categories. IBM offers Business Partners scalable, manageable and affordable industry-standard servers with mainframe-inspired reliability technologies.

Tivoli security management software was recognized as the first-place overall winner in the Security Management Software category, and also won first place in support and tied for first in the product/pricing subcategory. Business partners are key to Tivoli security management strategy, helping Tivoli expand its technology and expand its functionality and management capabilities to deliver the most comprehensive access, identity and risk management software solutions in the industry.

"Recognition by our Business Partners that IBM is a leader in providing hardware and software technologies is great affirmation of our commitment to work with partners to deliver innovative solutions to customers," said Patricia Meacham, vice president, IBM Global Partnerworld. "We are pleased to receive this strong vote of confidence from our Business Partners."

The VARBusiness ARC Survey recognizes the year's top technology vendors by assessing the level of satisfaction among solution providers in hardware, software, networking, storage, and Internet vendor partnerships. To determine the winners of the 2001 16th Annual ARC Survey, VARBusiness conducted extensive research among more than 5,000 solution providers who evaluated over 70 vendors on technology and innovation, support and services, use of the Web and ability to partner.

"The VARBusiness Annual Report Card is the most significant annual benchmark of the Solution Provider/vendor relationship in the industry. This year's ARC winners represent the top firms to look to for technology innovation and solutions in the digital economy," said Robert C. DeMarzo, Vice President/Editorial Director of VARBusiness.
