WESTWOOD, MA, AND WHITE PLAINS, NY - 05 Oct 2001: Medical Information Technology Inc., (MEDITECH) announced today a collaboration with IBM to provide MEDITECH customers with IBM's line of high-performance eServers and storage systems that are fully compatible with MEDITECH software. Certified IBM computing systems can operate with MEDITECH's Microsoft(R) Windows(R)-based Client/Server Release as well as the company's MAGIC Release.

"IBM and MEDITECH are at the top of their respective fields and represent two of the most trusted names in healthcare technology. This will be great for both MEDITECH and IBM customers," said Alan Goldstein, MEDITECH director of marketing. "IBM's experience, integrity and reputation in healthcare technology is unsurpassed. They have excellent server and storage technology, as well as a world-class service organization."

Patrick Boyle, strategy and business development executive for IBM Global Healthcare, adds, "Healthcare industry customers will definitely benefit from using MEDITECH's software solutions in combination with IBM's hardware and services. This collaboration demonstrates how we work with other industry leaders to provide end-to-end solutions that help improve patient care."

One of those customers is Norton Healthcare, a large integrated healthcare delivery system servicing the Louisville (KY) metropolitan area. "We've been running our business on IBM e-business infrastructure, including eServers, for a number of years," says Ron Story, director of technology services at Norton.

"Just this year we selected MEDITECH as vendor of choice for a new enterprise-wide information system. We're excited about this collaboration; it will make it much easier to continue to consolidate on IBM servers, which will save us money and increase uptime reliability. This is great news for MEDITECH customers."

In addition to a comprehensive suite of computing products, IBM will also provide MEDITECH customers with direct access to its services for installation and technical support, with IBM acting as a single source for installation support and services.
