IBM Releases New Tivoli Application Management And Data Protection Products For SAP Enterprise Business Solutions

AUSTIN, TX - 13 Nov 2001: IBM todayintroduced new Tivoli products for SAP Enterprise Business Solutions and other leading software applications and middleware that will assist customers with life-cycle management and data backup and recovery of key business applications and databases.

According to a recent IDC report, the enterprise system management software market grew to $13.8 billion in 2000 and is expected to increase to $24.9 billion in 2005. Of the 10 functional markets that comprise the enterprise system management software market, performance management software and backup and archive software are the largest, with each grabbing about 19% market share.

Building upon IBM's strategic alliance with SAP AG (NYSE ADR: SAP), Tivoli Management Solution for has been designed as a comprehensive solution for the management of solutions, including performance and availability, security, storage and change management. It helps enable smooth operations of highly critical solutions by providing tight integration through certified interfaces. solutions help businesses around the world improve relationships with customers and partners, streamline operations and achieve significant efficiencies throughout their supply chains.

Tivoli Manager for R/3 release 2.2 provides availability and performance monitoring, integrating with the SAP Monitoring Architecture, event management, deployment of SAP R/3 and strategic management of SAP R/3 as a distributed enterprise application. The software integrates SAP R/3 management features with the overall IT management strategy of the organization, enabling customers to manage their entire IT environment in the context of their business.

Tivoli Data Protection for IBM Enterprise Storage Server for R/3 provides near 'zero impact' backup capability, which helps maximize the availability and protection of SAP R/3 applications. It exploits the IBM Enterprise Storage Server FlashCopy function to generate a copy of the production data, which is then used for backup. Key features include virtually seamless integration with the SAP R/3 administration utility for Oracle - SAP DBA - and a fully automated backup process, including dynamic resource determination.

Tivoli Manager for MQSeries v2.4 brings Tivoli's life-cycle management capabilities to environments using MQSeries middleware across both host and distributed environments from one desktop. It provides IT managers with the information they need to help them understand the business-level impact of MQSeries availability and performance.

Tivoli Data Protection for Informix provides centralized, on-line, incremental backup capabilities for restoring and managing Informix server databases and logical logs. Features include LAN-free support on IBM AIX and Sun Solaris platforms.

Triaton GmbH, as one of the biggest SAP R/3 providers in Europe, has deployed several Tivoli solutions to meet its business objectives including Tivoli Data Protection for R/3, Tivoli Data Protection for ESS for R/3, Tivoli Data Protection for Microsoft(R) Exchange Server and Tivoli Manager for Oracle. As part of a full-scale systems management initiative, these products help Triaton to manage the availability and protection of their clients' data, Triaton's parent company's data, ThyssenKrupp Information Services Group, as well as in the delivery of storage management as a storage service provider.
