Full biography

Ross A. Mauri is the General Manager for z Systems. In this capacity, he is responsible for all facets of IBM’s z Systems and LinuxONE businesses worldwide including strategy, architecture, operations, technology development, operating systems, tooling, middleware and overall financial performance.

Since joining IBM in 1980, Mr. Mauri has held various management positions in design, development, quality assurance and marketing. In 1993, he was appointed Director of the Paris-based Client/Server Computing unit overseeing strategy in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and later served as General Manager of Software Marketing for EMEA. In 1995, Mr. Mauri was appointed Technical Assistant to IBM's Chairman and CEO. He later held various executive positions in the mainframe business, including leading hardware development, marketing, solutions and strategy. He was a key leader in the transformation of these large systems from Bi-Polar to CMOS technology, a major milestone for IBM and the industry. Mr. Mauri went on to lead the development and marketing of IBM's UNIX and Linux initiatives. In 2003, he became Vice President, Development, IBM Systems Group, leading a global organization responsible for IBM's industry-leading server and storage platforms. He guided the organizational and cultural change that altered the orientation of STG development teams from independent silos to cross-matrix functional entities. Later he led the expansion of IBM’s pioneering global e-business initiative. From 2006 to 2010 he served as General Manager of IBM's Power Systems business, the worldwide market leader in UNIX systems.  Mr. Mauri then moved to an IBM headquarters role leveraging IBM’s advanced analytics, social business and process technologies, and was responsible for leading enterprise transformation and productivity initiatives across IBM.

Mr. Mauri is a member of IBM’s Performance Team and Growth & Transformation Team.

Mr. Mauri earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer mathematics from Marist College and now serves as Vice Chairman of the Marist College Board of Trustees.
