Stelae Technologies wins IBM SmartCamp India 2014

First of its kind B2B Startup Competition, Global Entrepreneur Program (GEP) promotes start-ups that focus on solutions for a Smarter Planet

Bengaluru, India - 14 Oct 2014: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced Stelae Technologies as the winner of the IBM SmartCamp 2014 in India, an exclusive program aimed at identifying early stage entrepreneurs who are developing business ventures that strengthen new markets around Cloud, Big Data and Analytics, Mobile and Social.

The SmartCamp, which was held in Bangalore, is a part of IBM’s Global Entrepreneur Program and aimed at identifying innovative Startups in the B2B space in India. 30 top contenders were shortlisted from over 250 entries across the country, and provided with an opportunity to pitch to and interact with local venture capitalists, serial entrepreneurs, business and technology experts.

The winning start-up, Stelae Technologies provides an automated conversion solution for multiple categories of content; their product Khemeia™, is a cloud-based technology which transforms unstructured information into structured enriched content ready for indexing. Drona Mobile, which looks at harnessing the power of mobile in all functions of a business, was judged the runners up at the event and the ‘audience poll winner’. Stelae Technologies and Drona Mobile will next take part in the IBM SmartCamp Regional Finals with winners of other regions from Asia Pacific.

In addition to access to IBM’s mentoring services along with an opportunity to learn from industry experts, participants of IBM SmartCamp will get access free IBM Software Credit and can leverage the best of IBM Technologies around Big Data, Analytics, Mobility, IOT under the IBM Global Entrepreneur Program. The winners of the SmartCamp also receive an invitation to participate in IBM’s SmartCamp Global Finals, where the IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year is named. The program has helped to launch more than 500 new businesses in key areas such as green energy, health care and transportation. Previous SmartCamp participants have together received $90 million in VC/Angel funding as a direct result of their participation in the program.
