Full biography

Tony Best is the Chief Operating Officer of IBM Australia and New Zealand. In this role, Tony is responsible for day to day operations, A/NZ Growth and leading programs enabling IBM’s transformation to a data driven cognitive enterprise.

His organisation is responsible for the redesign of IBM’s operating model to continuously align with fundamental market shifts and to drive new ways of working that drive speed and agility through the enterprise.

Previously, Tony was Vice President of IBM Software in Australia and New Zealand (This division is now incorporated into IBM Cloud). In this role, Tony led the team delivering business value to clients, leveraging IBM’s Software portfolio of over 4,000 products spanning big data, cloud, mobility, analytics, smarter commerce, security and social solutions.

Tony has more than 30 years of experience with IBM, joining the company in 1985 as a university graduate. He has held Vice President and General Management positions across sales, operations, systems engineering, support and services.

His previous roles have included: Vice President of Commercial and Channels Business, IBM A/NZ; Director, Tivoli Software Asia Pacific (based in Singapore); General Manager Software Group IBM A/NZ and General Manager, Public Sector IBM A/NZ.
