Full biography

John is currently the General Manager for IBM’s business within the Distribution and Industrial Sectors. John was appointed to this role on April 1, 2009. In this role John has responsibility for all of IBM’s business activities within a specified Large Enterprise Client set.

From January 2006 to March 2009, John was the General Manager of the Integrated Technology Services Division, including Cerulean and Classic Blue, within IBM Global Technology Services. In this role, he was responsible for marketing and delivery of a broad range of IT Infrastructure Services including integration, deployment and managed services for data centres and networks, and technical support services for IBM and selected non-IBM products in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

John joined IBM Australia in 1983 and embarked on a technical career in the Mid Range environment that would see him appointed to Systems Engineering Manager in the Mid Range Branch in Melbourne 1989. Following a year as a Business Partner Relationship Manager, he became the Executive Assistant to the Director of Finance and Insurance in 1991.

From 1992-1995 he was National Account Manager for BP and Ansett. In 1996 he returned to a management role to establish the Enterprise Systems Technical Support and Services Team.

In January 1997 he was appointed to the position of Storage Business Manager, A/NZ. This position was expanded in mid 1998 to include S/390 product responsibility with the formation of the Enterprise Systems Business.

From 2004 - 2006, he was the Sector Service Executive for the Commercial Sector IBM A/NZ.
