CS24, CS24D, CS24E & CS24DE Decoders
The IBM family of MPEG-2 professional audio/video decoders provide advanced technology to help satisfy diverse decoding requirements.
The CS24 decoders can decode up to MPEG-2 4:2:2 Profile at Main Level video and also contain two separate audio decoders. The two audio decoders will independently decode MPEG layer I/II or Dolby AC3. The CS24 decoder also integrate transport demultiplexing capability.
Recently announced, the CS24 family has received various microcode enhancements, incorporated in the CS24E and CS24DE products. The enhancements are currently available and consist of the following:
- Encoded Dolby Digital Pass-Through
- Application - This feature is used in applications where Dolby is decoded by other external devices.
- CS24E will accept compressed Dolby AC/3 data and pass it, undecoded, through the SPDIF output port.
- SMPTE 302M Support
- Application - This feature is used for professional applications that require the transport of uncompressed audio data.
- The CS24E & CS24DE will accept SMPTE 302M audio data in the Transport Stream and play that data over the analog ports of the chip.
- Enhanced Audio/Video Statistics Output
- CS24E and CS24DE have been enhanced to provide additional information about the audio and video streams such as video bit rate, audio bit rate, audio sample rate, etc.
