Collaborating on a global scale

How IBM engineers are collaborating with clients, business partners, ISV's and education institutions across the globe

Each week, IBM will highlight a story from around the world where IBM engineers are collaborating with clients, business partners, ISV's and education institutions to bring the latest technology to the market in new and innovative ways.

Did you know...

...in 2004, IBM announced their intention to collaborate and build a community around Power Architecture, which is used in a vast range of products including enterprise systems and supercomputers to game machines and devices with embedded microprocessors? Soon after, a groundswell of companies and universities began forming what has become a key resource for developers worldwide, Power.org.

With a more than 30-year history in advancing technology issues, National Instruments (NI) became one of the newest Power.org members last month. As a member, NI benefits from the collaboration with companies whose expertise of Power Architecture can be applied to the creation of high-performance, rugged and low-power commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) NI hardware. NI also extends the benefits of Power.org to engineers and scientists by making it possible for them to combine COTS hardware with NI LabVIEW graphical development tools to program Power Architecture processors and quickly design, prototype and deploy embedded systems.
