Collaborating on a global scale

How IBM engineers are collaborating with clients, business partners, ISV's and education institutions across the globe

Each week, IBM will highlight a story from around the world where IBM engineers are collaborating with clients, business partners, ISV's and education institutions to bring the latest technology to the market in new and innovative ways.

Did you know...

...as one of the largest network communication companies in the world, Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) entered into an historic deal with IBM to manage a substantial portion of their research and development? The multi-year agreement, which also includes the transfer of 235 employees in Munich and Stuttgart to IBM, is considered to be among the first examples of a company outsourcing their global R&D.

The activities included in the collaboration touch NSN's Next Generation Voice and Multimedia; Media Gateway; Mobile Internet Connections; and Consumer and Business VoIP business lines. In working with NSN, IBM will draw on its experience as one of the world's foremost R&D organizations. Last year alone IBM invested more than $6 billion in R&D, and has filed more US patents than any other company for the last 14 years.
