Each week, IBM will highlight a story from around the world where IBM engineers are collaborating with clients, business partners, ISV's and education institutions to bring the latest technology to the market in new and innovative ways. |
Did you know...
...there is an exotic, powerful, energy-efficient, and space saving new supercomputer who can attack vital problems like never before? IBM's Blue Gene/P - second generation of the world's most power supercomputer is mind-blowing and already adopted by prestigious technology leaders.
The U.S. Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, Ill., will deploy IBM's first Blue Gene/P supercomputer in the U.S. beginning later this year. The installation process is the next phase of a strategic partnership continuing to further advances in computation in support of breakthrough science.
There are a number of benefits to highlight with the Blue Gene/P supercomputer, one includes its energy-efficient design which aligns with IBM's "green" initiative. This other is its powerhouse system that operates continuously at speeds exceeding one "petaflop"- or one quadrillion operations per second. This once visionary ideal is now IBM's fastest computer ever built.
