Collaborating on a global scale

How IBM engineers are collaborating with clients, business partners, ISV's and education institutions across the globe

Each week, IBM will highlight a story from around the world where IBM engineers are collaborating with clients, business partners, ISV's and education institutions to bring the latest technology to the market in new and innovative ways.

DID YOU KNOW.....

..... that engineers from IBM are currently collaborating with professors and students from the University of Washington's Department of Bioengineering to explore the use of the Cell processor for various medical imaging opportunities? As you may be aware, the Cell processor was co-developed by IBM, Sony and Toshiba for use with Sony's latest gaming platform -- Playstation 3.

Now, the University of Washington is working with IBM to try and design a fully programmable ultrasound machine architecture that can be scaled from sophisticated high-end systems to low-cost units for use in doctors' offices and in the home. In fact, the University and IBM are going to be co-hosting a conference on medical imaging in July -- you can get more details and see the press announcement here.

Gaming technology for medical use. What will the engineers of IBM collaborate on next. Tune in next week.
