Collaborating on a global scale

How IBM engineers are collaborating with clients, business partners, ISV's and education institutions across the globe

Each week, IBM will highlight a story from around the world where IBM engineers are collaborating with clients, business partners, ISV's and education institutions to bring the latest technology to the market in new and innovative ways.

Did you know...

...there are cars which are designed to operate autonomously and identify their routes automatically? This fascinating technology has been the recent focus of a design contest by Freescale Semiconductor.

The Freescale Cup National Smart Car University Design Competition was hosted by Shanghai Jiaotong University. The design contest required participants to design, produce, tune and test model cars based on the Freescale 16-bit S12X MCU family, which provided the processing intelligence for each car's control mechanism and supporting systems.

Each model car was capable of piloting itself through a challenging race course with continuous curves. In selecting the winning teams, Freescale Cup judges also considered technical design, production and engineering quality.
