Did you know...
...since its inception in 1958, supercomputers have played a critical role in many of NASA's missions, including new space vehicle design, global climate studies and astrophysics research. The agency is known the world over as a leading force in scientific research.
Recently, NASA selected IBM System p575+ supercomputer for their next-generation supercomputing applications. Since many of NASA projects require large, complex calculations and sophisticated mathematical models, it was vital to choose the reliable supercomputer.
The IBM p575+ supercomputer acquisition will eventually replace the existing Columbia supercomputer system, currently ranked the eighth fastest supercomputer in the world. The new dual chosen will evaluate next-generation technology to meet NASA agency’s future supercomputing requirements.
