With zEnterprise, clients can now deploy an integrated hardware environment that brings mainframe and distributed technologies together. The zEnterprise BladeCenter Extension (zBX) and the zEnterprise Unified Resource Manager help simplify data center management to reduce costs in a heterogeneous environment. The increased capacity and performance of zEnterprise also enable clients to consolidate more SAP workload on the mainframe.

Clients implementing the SAP database server with z/OS and DB2 on zEnterprise may choose to implement the SAP application server on zEnterprise with Linux or on the zBX with POWER7 blades and AIX. This capability provides clients with the flexibility to choose the most appropriate environment based on their business needs.

The System z Solution Edition for SAP has been enhanced to include both zBX and Unified Resource Manager as optional products.
