IBM System z Solution Edition for Enterprise Linux
“Master IT complexity” and realize savings through reducing the complexity of your distributed server environment. That’s the primary goal of the System z Solution Edition for Enterprise Linux, improving your return of investment (ROI) through IT simplicity and operational efficiency.
The Linux on IBM System z platform has become well known for its capabilities in the areas of deployment of existing and new workloads, often consolidations, while providing opportunities to minimize IT costs.
Linux on System z builds on the outstanding capabilities of the System z server technology, especially with the IBM zEnterprise BC12 (zBC12) and IBM zEnterprise EC12 (zEC12) servers, the IBM z/VM virtualization and the new virtualization management software IBM Wave for z/VM, providing uniquely powerful resource and fast provisioning, automatic load-balancing and simple and efficient systems management for the transformation into private cloud environments.
The System z Solution Edition for Enterprise Linux is available with two offerings:
The Solution Edition for Enterprise Linux offers a set of dedicated Linux workload processors, called Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL), memory, I/O connectivity, with 3 to 5 years maintenance, z/VM virtualization and IBM Wave for z/VM software with 3 to 5 years subscription & support in flexible configurations to an existing System z system.
The IBM Enterprise Linux Server offers a standalone System z Linux server, equipped with IFLs, memory, I/O connections, with 3 to 5 years maintenance, the z/VM virtualization and IBM Wave for z/VM software with 3 to 5 years subscription & support.
Linux distribution partners Red Hat and SUSE are partnering with IBM for the Solution Edition for Enterprise Linux and the IBM Enterprise Linux Server.
Take advantage of these Linux solutions when deploying workloads like business analytics, data warehousing and data serving, email and collaboration, SOA and web hosting infrastructures, Java applications, content management or industry solutions such as the IBM Intelligent Operations Center for Smarter Cities and the IBM Smarter Infrastructure for Social Services and many vendor applications – all manageable in a cloud.
Please contact your IBM representative or IBM business partner to learn how this offering can help you standardize on a scalable, flexible virtual infrastructure to meet the requirements of your business.
