Overview of 'Value Unit Exhibits'

Each Value Unit priced product has a specific Value Unit Exhibit (VUE) that applies. The VUE defines the particular rules for converting a base unit to Value Units. There are multiple Value Unit Exhibits and each product has an applicable VUE which achieves the correct pricing characteristics for that product, as determined by IBM.

Whenever you use the Value Unit Converter Tool, you need to select the appropriate Value Unit Exhibit (VUE) for the particular Value Unit priced product in which you are interested. To determine the correct VUE, look in the IBM announcement letter for that product. You can search for IBM announcement letters online.

For example, if you are trying to determine the number of Value Units needed for WebSphere Application Server for your 100 MSU System z mainframe, you would look at the relevant WebSphere announcement letter (PDF, 59KB) and search the letter for the word "Exhibit", you will find that VUE007 applies - as stated in the middle of the right hand column of page 3. Only announcement letters for new products or new versions of an existing product will indicate the applicable Value Unit Exhibit.
