* The last column, labeled 'SMF89?', describes whether the program is able to generate an SMF89 record. Once enabled in PARMLIB, SMF89 records are generated by MVS on behalf of any program which makes a request. These records are analyzed by the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool to determine when/where a sub-capacity eligible program executed. In the case that a sub-capacity eligible program is not capable of generating SMF89 records, then the customer must tell the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool where these programs execute, by updating the 'NO89' DD statement in the tool.

Note: SMF89 records are only needed for Sub-Capacity System z MLC or IPLA programs with execution-based terms because IBM is able to determine the required sub-capacity license capacity of all other IPLA programs by examining the MSUs reported for the parent program or z/OS (depending on the applicable terms) on Sub-Capacity Reports.

Caution: This System z9 and System z Contracts web page contains a listing of all the sub-capacity eligible IBM software products, as announced by IBM. Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT) support for Sub-Capacity System z MLC or IPLA products with Execution-based terms generally occurs at or soon after the product's general availability date. To determine whether a particular version/release of SCRT supports a particular Sub-Capacity System z MLC or IPLA product with execution-based terms, please visit the 'What's New' portion of the SCRT website.
