For Sub-Capacity System z IPLA programs with Execution-Based Terms, the required capacity of a System z IPLA sub-capacity program equals the capacity of the LPAR(s) where the System z IPLA program executes.
As of May 2, 2008, select Sub-Capacity System z IPLA programs with Execution-Based Terms may also be eligible for Getting Started Sub-Capacity Pricing for z/OS IPLA software, which may allow for less than the LPAR´s traditional capacity for workloads with low utilization.
The following is a list of sub-capacity eligible System z IPLA programs with execution-based terms:

* The third column, labeled 'SMF89?', describes whether the program is able to generate an SMF89 record. Once enabled in PARMLIB, SMF89 records are generated by MVS on behalf of any program which makes a request. These records are analyzed by the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool to determine when/where a sub-capacity eligible program executed. In the case that a sub-capacity eligible program is not capable of generating SMF89 records, then the customer must tell the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool where these programs execute, by updating the 'NO89' DD statement in the tool.
Note: SMF89 records are only needed for Sub-Capacity System z MLC or IPLA programs with execution-based terms because IBM is able to determine the required sub-capacity license capacity of all other IPLA programs by examining the MSUs reported for the parent program or z/OS (depending on the applicable terms) on Sub-Capacity Reports.
** The fourth column, labeled "Getting Started**", describes whether the program is eligible for Getting Started Sub-Capacity Pricing for z/OS IPLA software. If the eligible Getting Started product's utilization within an LPAR is less than an announced threshold, then the MSUs included in the SCRT report for that LPAR will be a proportional fraction of the LPAR utilization. If the product's utilization within an LPAR exceeds the threshold, the traditional. LPAR utilization will be used. The utilization comparison to the threshold will be done on an LPAR by LPAR basis. The MSU value on the SCRT report for an eligible Getting Started product on a machine could be a combination of sub-LPAR Getting Started measurements from some LPARs and traditional LPAR utilization measurements from other LPARs.
Caution: This System z Contracts web page contains a listing of all the sub-capacity eligible IBM software products, as announced by IBM. Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT) support for Sub-Capacity System z MLC or IPLA products with Execution-based terms generally occurs at or soon after the product's general availability date. To determine whether a particular version/release of SCRT supports a particular Sub-Capacity System z MLC or IPLA product with execution-based terms, please visit the 'What's New' portion of the SCRT website.
