Midrange Workload License Charge (MWLC) is a monthly license charge price metric on the IBM zEnterprise EC12, IBM zEnterprise 196, System z10 and System z9 servers. It applies to z/VSE V5 and V4 and 13 key z/VSE-related middleware programs such as CICS TS for VSE, ACF/VTAM for VSE, and DB2 Server for VSE.
Sub-capacity pricing is based on a four-hour rolling average utilization of the z/VSE LPARs or z/VM guests observed within a one month reporting period. This requires reporting of the utilization. z/VSE uses the Capacity Measurement Tool (CMT) to produce the required SCRT89 accounting records.
SCRT has been enhanced to recognize and use z/VSE system capacities of less than one MSU when calculating overall capacities for z/VSE middleware products across all of the z/VSE systems on the same CPC.
The following presentation gives an overview about the MWLC pricing:
The SCRT User Guide contains information about the minimum system requirements, one time setup and processing of the SCRT data.
