Midrange Workload License Charge (MWLC) is a new monthly license charge price metric on the IBM System z9, z10 and IBM zEnterprise 196 servers. It applies to z/VSE V4 and V5 and 13 key z/VSE-related middleware programs such as CICS TS for VSE, ACF/VTAM for VSE, and DB2 Server for VSE. MWLC is available on z9 EC, z9 BC, z10 EC, z10 BC and z196 servers with z/VSE V4 or V5.
Sub-capacity pricing is based on a four-hour rolling average utilization of the z/VSE LPARs or z/VM guests observed within a one month reporting period. This requires reporting of the utilization. z/VSE uses the Capacity Measurement Tool (CMT) to produce the required SCRT89 accounting records.
SCRT has been enhanced to recognize and use z/VSE system capacities of less than one MSU when calculating overall capacities for z/VSE middleware products across all of the z/VSE systems on the same CPC.
