Guidance on updating Java SDKs and JREs for Daylight Saving Time (DST)

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-58) was passed by the United States Congress. This law changes the time-change dates for Daylight Savings Time in the United States. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November. System z Application Assist Processors (zAAP)

Today IBM announced a lower cost alternative to general purpose zSeries processors. Customers can lower the cost of computing for z/OS Java-based applications by executing them transparently and without change on a zAAP. Running Java applications on a zAAP will depend on the SDK1.4 z/OS Java product in conjunction with IBM eServer zSeries 990 (z990) or zSeries 890 (z890) running z/OS 1.6. (April 7, 2004).
