Hardware/Software requirements

To take advantage of this offering, you must have some specific separately orderable hardware and software.

Hardware requirements

Hardware requirements include the following:

• One or two System z Servers
  
  z9 Business Class or z9 Enterprise Class servers. The following servers meet the requirements of the Rapid Deployment offering:
  • z9 BC: 2096-R07 with capacity setting B03 or higher
  • z9 BC: 2096-S07 - all capacity settings
  • z9 EC: 2094-Sxx - all model types
  
  Each system ordered for this offering, must have the following minimum options:
  • 2 general purpose CPs
  • 32 GB of memory
  • 2 ICF (Internal Coupling Facility) processors
  • 1 zIIP (System z9 Integrated Information Processor)
  • Server Time Protocol (STP)
  • 1 STP capable Hardware Management Console (HMC)
  • 2 FICON express cards
  • 3 OSA-Express cards (1 Gbps)
  
  Note: To avoid IODF conflicts, each server must be a dedicated system and not carved logical partitions from an existing server.
  
  If two System z servers are being configured in this offering, you will also need:
  • 4 ICB (Integrated Cluster Bus) coupling links
  
  
  
• Two IBM storage controllers - DS6000 Series or DS8000 Series
  
  Each storage controller should have a minimum of:
  • 3 TB of net capacity
  
  In addition, the following features are needed:
  • Point in time copy (Flashcopy)
  • Metro Mirror (Synchronous PPRC)
  • Parallel Access Volumes (PAV)
  
  
  
• One IBM tape controller (or Automated Tape Library)
  
  The tape controller will need a minimum of:
  • 4 359x drives
  • 2 single mode fiber channel ports
  
  If two System z servers are being configured in this offering, you will also need:
  • 4 additional 359x drives (minimum 8 drives total)
  
  
  
• Two FICON switches (for connectivity of tape and storage controllers to server)
  
  Each switch will need a minimum of:
  • 9 single mode fiber channel ports
  • Each port should be 1 Gbps (4 Gbps recommended)
  
  
  
• Two Ethernet routers (for dedicated VLAN setup for DB2)
  
  Each router will need a minimum of:
  • 8 ports
  • 1 Gbps Ethernet 1000/100
  • HSRP & OSPF routing support

Software requirements

The following table lists the software requirements for this offering. These products must be ordered via IBM SystemPac, using a special Rapid Deployment SystemPac request form that can be obtained from your IBM Sales representative.

Note: If additional products are required, including National Language Support features, a separate software order should be placed to include the additional products.
