Description |
| Print Interface |
Extends robust JES print serving capabilities to users and applications in the LAN and z/OS UNIX System Services environments. It includes a Server Message Block (SMB) print file server to receive and process print submissions from Windows clients. Print Interface can validate print jobs and invoke datastream transforms if required. |
| Printer Inventory |
Infoprint Server uses a single printer inventory to define all of its supported printers. The inventory is shared with PSF, so you can define AFP printers, ASCII printers and VTAM-controlled (coax) printers all in one place. |
| IP PrintWay |
Routes print data on the JES spool from z/OS to a printer in the TCP/IP network or over the Internet, or to another system's spool. It uses standard LPR/LPD protocol, direct-socket printing, or IPP. It can also send output as e-mail. IP PrintWay support for the HP Printer Job Language (PJL) protocol enables tracking of the number of pages printed and job restarts after errors. |
| Infoprint Central |
Provides a Web-based graphical user interface that allows users, depending on their security authorizations, to manage print jobs, queues and printers from any location with access to the Internet and a Web browser for printers using IP PrintWay or Print Services Facility (PSF). |
| NetSpool |
Can automatically re-route VTAM application output, such as from CICS and IMS applications, to the JES spool without requiring application program changes. From there print files can be sent to ASCII printers using IP PrintWay, or to AFP printers using Print Services Facility (PSF). |
| Infoprint Transforms |
Products 5655-N60, 5655-P19, 5655-P20, 5655-P21, and 5639-P51 support the following datastream conversions
SAP R/3 ABAP and OTF to AFP, PCL to AFP, PostScript and PDF to AFP, GIF, JPEG, and TIFF to AFP, AFP to PCL, and AFP to PostScript and PDF. In addition, a documented Application Programming Interface lets customers and IBM Business Partners write their own transforms and plug them in to Infoprint Server. The GIF, JPEG and TIFF to AFP transforms run on Infoprint Transform Manager for Linux (5639-P51). The remainder of the transforms run on z/OS. |
| Infoprint Server Coaxial Printer Support |
Product 5655-N62
Drives printers that are defined to VTAM as LU0, LU1 or LU3 to support datastream Compatibility/Datastream Extended (DSC/DSE) and SNA Character String (SCS) print output. |
| Microsoft® Windows® Client |
Supplements the standard Microsoft Windows File/Print submission with a client that runs on the Microsoft Windows workstation. It can support more robust printer selection and print submission capabilities than are available through File/Print submission. |
| Infoprint Server Hardware and Software Requirements |
| Hardware |
IBM System z® processors capable of supporting z/OS V1R4 or higher. |
| Software |
The operating system must be z/OS V1R4 or higher. Infoprint Central requires z/OS V1R5 or higher. Encryption between Infoprint Server and TCP/IP-attached printers using the Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) protocol requires z/OS Communications Server V1R7 or higher. Obtaining real-time printer status and performing certain printer actions requires Infoprint server for z/OS V1R8 or higher. |
