Product details Specifications
Introduction  |   Prerequisites

Hardware requirements
DCF is intended to run on IBM zSeries, z900 and z990 processors supported by OS/390®, z/OS®, VM or VSE, or equivalent processor hardware.

  • Documents created using DCF are intended for use on printers that use the Intelligent Printer Data Stream™ (IPDS). This includes a large variety of cut sheet and continuous forms printers from IBM and third party hardware vendors.
  • DCF can also generate documents in zSeries line printer format, PostScript® Level 1 and IBM BookManager™ formats.

Software requirements
DCF runs in the foreground environment with supported releases of:

  • CICS® ( OS/390, z/OS and VSE)
  • CMS (VM)
  • TSO (z/OS and OS/390)

When installed with its companion product, Document Library Facility, DCF can be used in batch environments in z/OS, OS/390 and VSE.

When formatting output for AFP™ printers, DCF uses information about AFP fonts that has been gathered using a supplied program called Font Library Index Facility (FLIP). The recommended AFP fonts for use with FLIP, and for use when printing to an AFP/IPDS™ printer controlled by AFP print driver software, are contained in the IBM AFP Font Collection (5648-B33). The AFP Font Collection contains a selection of font typefaces and styles for Latin 1-5 language complements, and for Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
