z/OS V1.4 consoles enhancements

In a future release of z/OS, IBM plans to eliminate the one-byte console interface. With the advent of four-byte console IDs (in MVS SP4.1.0), customers and vendors have been encouraged to migrate away from the use of one-byte interfaces. Details of the one-byte console ID interface elimination are planned to be communicated in a future z/OS announcement. To help you prepare for the removal of this interface, an operator command will be provided in the z/OS V1.4 consoles enhancements feature that will identify uses of one-byte console ID interface in your environment.

IBM intends to provide Consoles Enhancements through an early availability program, planned to begin on November 14, 2003. Availability is planned for first quarter 2004. For information on participation in this program, visit the Resource Link Web site

Once there, select Planning on the left navigation bar, and then select z/OS V1.4 Console Restructure Customer Request Form under Software.
